Demo/Test Ride Policy: Salem Honda BMW Ducati knows that riding a motorcycle is important to making your purchasing decision and that many dealers do not allow demo/test rides. We want to make sure that you are purchasing the right vehicle for you. Due to concerns with insurance, safety, and sales, we do allow test rides if certain conditions are met. If there is a concern about your ability to ride a particular vehicle, you may be asked to show control of a smaller vehicle or simply not be allowed to test ride if your personal safety is in question.
Whenever possible, a Salem Honda BMW Ducati employee will ride with you on a small loop for several miles near the dealership. This allows us to control exactly how the motorcycle is ridden, and to offer any assistance as you adjust to a new motorcycle while you are riding it. This way you will always know that a motorcycle with some miles on it has only been test ridden in a controlled fashion and is perfectly fine to purchase.
In order to keep mileage as low as possible, we request that you only ride a motorcycle or scooter that you are seriously considering purchasing. The exception to this would be a manufacturer’s demo motorcycle which we plan to have as a demo for a certain period of time and/or mileage.
A Department of Transportation approved helmet must be worn on a test ride. Appropriate riding attire must also be worn such as long pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, and long sleeve shirt/jacket. We have limited loaner gear here at our store.
A valid license for the type of vehicle you will be operating is required. Any motorcycle or scooter that is not classified as a moped requires a valid motorcycle license. A valid drivers license is required for a moped.
A valid demo/test ride waiver must be filled out and signed before any demo/test ride may begin, plus you must present your license and insurance card.
Please call ahead about a demo/test ride. We want to make sure the vehicle is serviced and available for your ride.
Thanks,
Salem Honda BMW Ducati
